A last minute trip I had recently taken led me into an unexpected short gateway in Sepang, staying in an overwater villa at the five star Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort. It is one of the places on my bucket list I want to do while staying in Malaysia. Located approximately 33 km or about 40 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), this resort often to be the last place for tourists to go before they leave the city. Similar to my friend who spent his last night here before his return that introduced me to this resort for the first time.

Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort Review
How to get to Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort
There is no public transport to reach this area but the resort itself has a free shuttle bus that can take you to the resort but only in certain locations and times of day. Do call them for clear information about the right schedule and pick up point if you are planning to take their shuttle bus.
If you drive your own car, it will be easy to reach the resort and explore Sepang area. However, if you do not drive, you can always book a Grab or Uber to go to this resort with a cheaper fare than a taxi (it will cost about RM 70++ from KLIA/KLIA2 and RM 120++ from Kuala Lumpur).
Staying at Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort
Avani Sepang Goldcoast is also well known as Golden Palm Tree resort due to the unique design resembling a palm tree that can only be seen from above either with a drone or by plane (make sure to bring your drone if you have one).
Upon check in and getting a room card, there is a buggy service in the lobby that will give you a ride to the room. Our room was just a few blocks away and I only had one small luggage with me so instead of waiting for the buggy, we decided to walk to the room. If your room is way off from the lobby or you have many belongings with you, it is a better choice to wait for the buggy service.
We stayed in a superior room for the trip and the room is really spacious which comes with private balcony or terrace which is a perfect spot to enjoy the morning or afternoon view with a cup of tea.
One of my favorite things during the stay was the bed. It was super comfy, that made me not want to leave it.

Eating at Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort
There are 2 bars and 5 restaurants around Avani Serpang Goldcoast Resort that offer a variety of foods from local to international food. Frankly speaking, the food was okay and quite overprice so if you are tight with your budget, I will suggest to bring outside food along (such as instant noodles) during your stay
1. Sepoi Sepoi
Located outside Avani resort and serves local Malaysian food and western food. We had our lunch here. We ordered the Avani Beef Burger and Pasta. The food was alright but nothing special.
2. Bila Bila
Bila Bila is the restaurant you will be heading to if you pay for the breakfast during your stay. It served local and western foods in a buffet and ala carte style. We had our buffet lunch here and it cost around Rm 50/ person.
3. Hai Sang Lou
If you are up for Chinese food, this restaurant is where you should go. It is located one level up from Bila Bila.
4. Stimbot
If you are looking for Chinese seafood steamboat during your stay, Stimbot will be the right restaurant for you.
5. Perahu
Perahu is the international seafood grilled style restaurant. It is a beachfront dining place in Avani Resort that will be a good place to enjoy the sunset. We had our dinner here and we had a lobster as our meal. It was delicious but it was not cheap.
Note : If you are lazy to go out for your breakfast, lunch and dinner, Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort also has in villa dining service. You can check the food menu on the television and call for your order.
Things to do in Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort
There are a few things you can do during your stay in Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort from relaxing to water sport activities. The resort offers free water sport activities such as kayaking and stand up paddle boarding to their in-house guests but please make sure to check the high and low tide timetable to get the right time for the water activities.
The guests also can ride a bicycle to explore the resort for free of charge but the bicycles are first come first served basis, therefore you will find that some people hide the bicycle in front of their room to avoid it getting stolen by other guests.
Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort is a kid friendly resort. It has a swing in the park and some games that certainly kids will be happy to play.
The resort also comes equipped with an infinity pool and gym that are suitable for those who want to maintain their shape during the vacation. Extreme park activities such as Paintball, ATV and Go-Karting are also available in this resort if you are looking for something a bit more adventurous.
If those activities are still not keeping you occupied, Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort also has scheduled activities. They have an activity arrangement every day such as yoga, designing and flying a kite and many more.
My Thoughts
There is something exciting about Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort. Away from the crowded and noisy city which is just great for a short getaway while you are in Malaysia. Whether you travel with family or your loved one, staying in an overwater villa is truly a best experience in life.

Hi, just drop by to ask is there any charges for the heart shaped petals on bed? 😉
Elvira
Hi Siti, Sorry for my very late reply. The simple heart petal in the picture was actually arranged by my boyfriend himself. Avani does have decoration arrangement (Heart Shape Flower Petal on Bed) for around Rm 117 (not sure still the same price). You may email them for further info and sample pics at [email protected] 🙂
